NEA Big Read programming to start in September

Programming is starting in September for the NEA Big Read. The Kickoff event is scheduled at the Beaver Island Community Center on Sept. 20th at 3 p.m. Books will be distributed, schedules presented and a survival movie shown.

Sept. 22nd is Foraging with Gina Mangra at the Library at 7 p.m. Gina will present how to and what you might find in the woods and fields that are edible.

Sept 28th is the Hunter's Safety Field Day sponsored by the Beaver Island Wildlife Club and MDNR. All new hunters must complete the online portion before attending the field day, which is also a prerequisite to purchasing a license to hunt. Contact Levi Connor for details.

Writers sharpen your pencils and get out the paper- does anyone really write that way anymore? Creative Writing 101- Write your own story, poem, ode, song, memoir, or create a piece of art to include in our first book on the theme of surviving on Beaver Island! This will be a published book. All submissions are due by Dec. 15th.
